The Jones is Elkini’s take on every girl’s favorite classic — the triangle bikini. It was one of the first pieces I knew I wanted Elkini to carry; in my opinion, a classic triangle kini is the mother of all staple pieces in any beach wardrobe !!! The Jones was introduced on Valentine’s Day 2024, initially available in three colors — Cherry, Sugar, and Cupid. It uses Elkini’s signature Butter fabric, a stretchy and breathable material made from regenerated nylon recovered from the ocean. The piece also officially debuted our brand mark, a crescent of sun rays, which was embroidered in white on the back of the bottoms.
The Jones, like every Elkini, is named after one of the amazing people in my life. Brooke Jones (AKA “Book”) is my college roommate, but, much more than that, is someone that I consider to be family. A hundred beach days and impromtu tanning sessions later, Brooke’s classic triangle bikini top and side-tie bottoms have become the signature look she’s known best for (a fact her tanlines can no doubt attest to.) This made designing a bikini inspired by her a no-brainer; right off the bat I knew exactly what the piece would look like.
My goal was to replace the beat-down, old faded bikini top Brooke had from high school with something of higher-quality composition, look, and feel. One of my main priorities was making sure the top strings would sit comfortably around her neck all day; the girls know — there’s nothing that kills a beach day faster than that painful stiff knot sqeezing into your neck. After trial and error experimenting with fabric elasticity and string thickness, I’m proud to say The Jones is definitively back-of-the-neck approved !!!!
Elkini Co. started out as a project to make awesome bikinis for my awesome friends. Brooke and I joke a lot about how she is like the older sister I never had — and it’s true!! In every moment, big or small, she is always there to share my wins and losses with me. I am very lucky to love ya Book Jones !!! This one’s for you.
